ABOUT KUMU KALEIALOHA

The knowledge, methods, and practices of hala weaving are critical to produce the highest quality of lauhala products. Kumu Kaleialoha's lauhala weaving disciplines come from knowledge passed down from generation to generation of Hawaiian weavers, including that of Master Weaver and Cultural Historian, Aunty Elizabeth Malu‘ihi Lee. Among the disciplines are: hala selection and gathering, sorting, cleaning, matching, ancestral knowledge, and the use of special handmade tools.

Kaleialoha Weavers of Hawai`i (KWH) is locally owned and located on the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawai`i.
